Pr Matthieu Durand

Professeur des Université, Praticien Hospitalier, Chirurgien Urologue, le Pr Matthieu DURAND est le chef de service d’Urologie, Andrologie et Transplantation Rénale au Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nice et au Centre Antoine Lacassagne.

Diplômé de Weill Cornell School of Medicine à New-York, après un doctorat de Médecine à la Faculté de Nice Sophia-Antipolis et une formation notamment à l’Institut Mutualiste Montsouris de Paris, le Pr Matthieu DURAND est spécialisé dans les cancers urologique et la santé de l’homme. Il est expert en chirurgie robotique, opérant tous les cancers – notamment les cancers de la prostate, du rein et de la vessie – par voie robotique avec les deux plateforme Intuitive, des robot Da-Vinci X et Xi au Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nice.

Aujourd’hui, avec plus de 1000 interventions robotiques et patients soignés déjà réalisés, le Pr Matthieu DURAND dirige une équipe d’une quinzaine d’urologues dans son équipe et dirige le programme de chirurgie robotique de l’institution publique du CHU de Nice et coordonne la filière du groupement hospitalier de territoire avec les différents centres hospitaliers d’Antibes, Cannes, Grasse et Menton.

À la faculté de Médecine de Nice de l’Université Côte d’Azur, le Professeur Matthieu DURAND dirige l’enseignement de l’urologie aux étudiants de la facultés, aux soignants des écoles d’infirmiers. Il assure également des cours à la chaire d’enseignement d’IA de l’Université. Pour les internes de chirurgie et pour les chirurgiens installés en France et en Europe, le Professeur Matthieu DURAND enseigne enfin toutes les techniques de chirurgie robotique pour opérer les cancers de l’homme (prostate, reins, vessie) en recevant des opérateurs de toute l’Europe et des équipes pluridisciplinaires dans le cadre d’un séminaire transdisciplinaire labellisé Épicentre Europe de Chirurgie Robotique.

Le Professeur Matthieu DURAND fait également partie de l’équipe de recherche de l’Unité INSERM U1081 et mène des travaux avec les équipes de scientifiques et généticiens sur la génétique des tumeurs. Récemment, il a engagé des étudiants dans un nouveau programme de recherche avec l’INRIA et le centre du Pr Nicholas Ayache sur l’automatisation des gestes robotiques robot-assistés.

Avec plus d’une centaine de publications à ce jour, le Professeur DURAND contribue par son engagement à la direction du service d’urologie du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nice, à la faculté de Médecine de Nice et aux laboratoires de l’INSERM et de l’INRIA à prendre en charge des patients atteints de cancers urologiques et à faire avancer l’enseignement et les travaux de recherche dans ce domaine.
